FAQ

  • Why Choose Farm Framed Florals To Press Your Bouquet?

Farm Framed Florals believes in making an impact by working with local businesses in an effort to support the local Teton Valley, ID & Jackson, WY communities. Partnering with local, sustainable flower farms is at the heart of the mission of Farm Framed Florals.

Farm Framed Florals also works with Mountain Stash Print House to create fine art prints of original pressed flower art, and Full Circle Frameworks to create custom natural wood frames—both located in Jackson, WY.

  • Why Do You Prefer Local, Sustainable Flower Farms?

Local, responsibly grown flowers press and retain color better than imported flowers. Additionally, imported flowers are often laden with pesticides and leave a negative environmental footprint.

  • Where Do You Source Your Flowers for All Original Pieces?

I source all flowers for pressing from local Teton Valley flower farms. I currently work with Teton Full Circle Farm and Red House Flowers.

I also forage local wildflowers and foliage.

  • Which Flower Farms Do You Recommend?

Local, sustainable flower farms. Red House Flowers & Teton Full Circle Farm are my go to flower farms.

Stay tuned for a local flower farms directory!

  • Do You Use Color Enhancers in Your Artwork?

During the preservation process, I never use chemicals or color enhancers, allowing the flowers to show their natural colors as they age. I enjoy seeing the pressed flowers transform during the preservation process, including colors naturally changing.

Certain pressed flowers will fade more quickly than others. Some fade during the pressing process, while others will change a different shade of their natural hue. Since flowers are an organic matter, it is very natural for them to lose color. When purchasing an original or commissioned piece, it is important to understand and embrace this.

  • Will My Flowers Change Color?

Yes, flowers and foliage will change color as they dry and age.

White flowers will change to shades of cream or yellow—if they don’t brown in the press.

    Paler colors will often fade.

Darker colors can deepen. Think dark red or purple tulips.

Bright colors tend to hold the most color, though these colors will still change.

I love watching a flowers colors change as it loses its moisture in the press. You just never know what the end result will be!

  • What to Expect Besides Colors Changing & Fading?

It is reasonable to expect flower particles, seeds, and pollen to come off and rest at the bottom of the frame.

  • Where Should I Hang My Original Pressed Flower Artwork?

With the appropriate care, pressed flowers can maintain their color for decades. I recommend keeping your framed artwork OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT and AWAY from DIRECT HEAT, humidity and moisture to prolong the colors of your flowers.

Heat and sunlight are the two main culprits to colors fading.

  • Do You Offer Framing?

I currently work with Full Circle Frameworks in Jackson, WY, to frame all original and commissioned pieces.

I sometimes have prints framed, but in limited quantities. Feel free to reach out if you don’t see any framed prints on the website. I may have one hanging at a local coffee shop or brewery with your name on it!

  • Do You Have a Recommendation on Where I Should Get My Print Framed?

I recommend using a local frame shop and requesting FSC Certified wood—this means that the wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

I also highly recommend using UV glass or UV acrylic when framing.

  • Do I Need To Book In Advance?

Yes! I recommend reaching out as soon as you have your wedding date. Fill out this form to begin the process.

  • How Soon Do I Need To Deliver My Bouquet?

Within 2 days of your ceremony. The fresher the flowers, the better they will press and retain color.

Keep refrigerated, in water, as soon as possible after the ceremony.

  • Can I Give You Other Flowers From My Wedding To Press?

Yes! I always recommend providing additional flowers to work with from your wedding. Center pieces are a great addition since they will be in water during the ceremony. Since the traditional pressing method is a bit finicky, it can be helpful having extra flowers to play around with!

  • Do You Work With Dried Flowers?

    Not currently.

  • Will You Ship Original & Commissioned Pieces?

I prefer local pick-up or delivery, however, I understand that is not an option for everyone. If you are not able to receive your commissioned piece locally, I am happy to offer shipping.

Shipping time and cost will vary based on shipping location.

  • Can I Mail My Flowers to You?

No. It is the mission of Farm Framed Florals to work with and support local, sustainable flower farms.

  • Will You Press All White Bouquets?

I will not press bouquets that only contain white flowers. White flowers can be beautiful when pressed, however, they also tend to brown quite easily.

  • When Will My Flowers Be Ready to Work With?

I press all flowers for 8 weeks to guarantee all moisture is gone from the flowers.

  • Do You Offer Local Pickup & Delivery?

Yes! Local pickup is preferred, however, if you are located in Teton Valley or the Jackson area, I would be happy to arrange a time to drop off your finished piece.

This may result in an additional travel fee.

  • What Kind of Paper Do You Use for Your Originals?

    Arches Watercolor Paper

    300 GSM

    100% Natural Cotton Fiber

    Acid Free

  • Where Are Your Prints Made?

I work with Mountain Stash Print House located in Jackson, WY, 23 miles from my studio. Keeping the entire process local is very important to me.

Prints are a great addition to any original or commissioned piece, since they will do a better job at retaining color over time.

  • Do You Just Press Wedding Bouquets?

No! Please reach out to inquire about any commission ideas you may have.
